According to EPA estimates, because so many of them are recycled, aluminum cans account for less than 1% of the total U.S. waste stream.

Recycled plastic is made into plastic lumber, clothing, insulation for sleeping bags and ski jackets, flower pots and car bumpers.

Mining and transporting raw materials for glass produces about 385 pounds of waste for every ton of glass that is made.
