NAUI Instructor Training and Instructor Trainer & Course Director workshops will be held prior to the 2015 DEMA Show in Florida from October 30th to November 4th. Whether you are just starting your adventure as a scuba leader or if you have been in the industry for years, NAUI is the training agency to help you achieve your goals and share your passion with the world.

NAUI Instructor Training Course

October 28-November 4
Tuition $2800

Instructor candidates will learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with NAUI diving course standards. This course assures candidates who earn certification as NAUI Instructors have the professional knowledge, skills, fitness and attitude to succeed as industry leaders.

Upon completion of the course, NAUI Instructors may independently teach NAUI sanctioned courses and authorize NAUI certification for graduates. They may also independently conduct NAUI recognition and experience programs and authorize formal recognition for graduates.

 Prerequisites and Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
  • Graduation from a NAUI PREP Program within the past 12 months or certification as a scuba certified NAUI Leader (i.e. Assistant Instructor, Divemaster or Skin Diving Instructor) or certified Instructor from another agency and also a NAUI PREP Program graduate.
  • Minimum of 50 logged open water scuba dives varied in environment, depth, and activities is required.
  • Pass the NAUI Instructor Prequalification Exam with a minimum score of 75%.

 

NAUI Course Director Trainer Workshop
October 30-31

Tuition $750

The Course Director designation is a formal NAUI leadership designation that provides recognition to NAUI Instructors who have completed a combination of training and evaluated experience specific to the preparing, training, evaluating and counseling of NAUI Course Directors as well as Instructor candidates.

NAUI Instructors designated as Course Directors Trainers (CDT) may direct the Instructor Preparatory Program (PREP), Instructor Qualification Program (IQP), Instructor Training Course (ITC), Staff Training Workshop (STW), Instructor Trainer Workshop (ITW) and Course Director Workshop (CDW).

Prerequisites and Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 21 years by the water phase of the course.
  • NAUI Course Director who has conducted at least three ITWs as the Instructor of Record (the first ITW must be under the supervision of an active-status Course Director Trainer).
  • Teaching and advertising 100% NAUI.

Instructor Trainer Workshop
November 1-2

Tuition $2000

The Instructor Trainer designation is a formal NAUI leadership designation that provides recognition to NAUI Instructors who have completed a combination of training and evaluated experience specific to the preparing, training, evaluating and counseling of NAUI Instructor candidates.

NAUI Instructors designated as Instructor Trainer may direct the Instructor Preparatory Program (PREP), Staff Training Workshop (STW), Instructor Training Program (ITP), and staff an Instructor Training Course (ITC), Instructor Qualification Program (IQP), or Instructor Training Workshop (ITW) in any position other than Course Director.

Prerequisites and Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
  • Any NAUI Instructor who has taught or assisted with at least three diver certification courses, one of which must be a leadership level course, or accumulated 90 diving student contact hours (30 at the leadership level) may attend an ITW.

Course Director Workshop
November 1-2

Tuition $3000

The Course Director designation is a formal NAUI leadership designation that provides recognition to NAUI Instructors who have completed a combination of training and evaluated experience specific to the preparing, training, evaluating and counseling of NAUI Instructor Trainers as well as NAUI Instructor candidates.

NAUI Instructors designated as Course Director may direct the Instructor Preparatory Program (PREP), an Instructor Training Course (ITC), Instructor Qualification Program (IQP), or Instructor Training Workshop (ITW).

 

Prerequisites and Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
  • Any NAUI Instructor Trainer who completed the following may attend a Course Director Workshop (CDW)
    • Conducted and evaluated candidate performance for at least one ITP or
    • Staffed and evaluated candidate performance for at least one IQP, ITC, or ITW.

NAUI Instructor Crossover
November 3-4

Tuition $1000
 

The crossover course is designed for those candidates with an equivalent leadership/instructor certification from another agency.

Prerequisites and Requirements:

  • Minimum age is 18 years by the water phase of the course.
  • Graduation from a NAUI PREP Program within the past 12 months or certification as a scuba certified NAUI Leader (i.e. Assistant Instructor, Divemaster or Skin Diving Instructor) or certified Instructor from another agency who is also a NAUI PREP Program graduate.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be applied.
  • Minimum of 50 logged open water scuba dives varied in environment, depth, and activities is required.
  • Pass the NAUI Instructor Prequalification Exam with a minimum score of 75%.
