NAUI News Content

The NAUI Board of Directors is conducting a review of the Recreational Standards and is examining feasibility for development of Public Safety and Scientific course(s). As part of this initiative, the NAUI Training Committee is looking for NAUI Members to be participants of these advisory panels.

We are forming two new Training Committee advisory panels for Public Safety Diving and Scientific Diver and are looking to fill each panel with 10 NAUI Instructors who possess expertise in these areas.

If you are interested in volunteering for these panels, please read the outline of qualifications for each panel and submit a brief resume (C.V.) to Chris Richardson, cerichardson@bellsouth.net.

It is VERY important that before volunteering you understand this year will be an EXTREMELY busy one for the panel participants, and  we anticipate there will be teleconference meetings once every two weeks one evening a week (eastern US time zone) during the first three months.

Public Safety Panel- Looking for active NAUI Instructors who are CURRENTLY employed or have been employed on a Public Safety Dive team in the last 10 years, have been a member of a Public Safety Dive team for a period of at least 3 years (5 years if not currently with a team) and have been involved in training of Public Safety Divers.  Applicants must have participated in at least 100 operational/training dives as a Public Safety Diver, tender or supervisor. Verification will be required. Instructor Trainers and Course Directors preferred.

Scientific Diver Panel-  Looking for active NAUI Instructors who are CURRENTLY employed or have a minimum ten years recent experience instructing scuba in the scientific community. Applicants must have at least 3 years experience in teaching or working as a scientific diver. Verification will be required. Instructor Trainers and Course Directors preferred.

Some names have been submitted and we would like a few more. Lend us your expertise and help us build NAUI in new directions.
